A few small, simple tweaks can change one’s life for good — and I am going to prove the same today.

Getting up early in the morning, doing regular workouts, eating healthy every day — there are so many “nice” habits that we wish we had. The same happens in our professional life. And as it turns out, having a few productive habits can help you meet your goals fast, both career and business. This is something that I’ve learned during my experience of working with ProofHub.

Now, according to Charles Duhigg, author of “Smarter Faster Better: The Secrets Of Being Productivity” and “The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do, and How to Change”, habits require three components that are the cue, the reward, and the routine. So, if you wish to adopt a new habit — and nail it in every sense — you’ve got to master all the three components first. And here’s what the three components represent:

  • Cue is the circumstance surrounding the habit.
  • Reward is what triggers the pavlovian response.
  • Routine is the combination of the cue, the act, and the reward.

Coming back to habits, here are the key habits that I suggest every professional, expert or aspirin, should consider adopting. Try applying some of these habits to your daily life — and remember, it’s all up to you! So, give it your best shot.

  1. Every Morning, Write Your Goals Down

Write down your goals. Do it every day. Do it as the first thing in the morning and your life will be a lot better than before. Why? Well as you write your goals down, you train your brain to start looking for ways to achieve what you want. In simple words, you visualize your future by writing your goals and arise your brain to feel what it would be like to have those goals accomplished — and work hard for the same.

2. Put Your Social Media On Airplane Mode

We bare living in a world of constant connection to screens. Just count how many times you pick up your phone or check your social media feed in a day and you will know. One of the key habits that every individual needs today is to learn how to reduce distractions and clarify work-life boundaries. Fewer distractions mean more productivity. So put your phone and social media on airplane mode at work and you’ll be surprised!

3. Clearly Prioritize Your To-Do (Eliminate All Non-Priorities)

We face multiple demands on our time every day. There are often times when new demands override our existing schedule, resulting in loss of control. The best way to deal with this situation is to keep our priorities straight and eliminating all the non-priorities without any second thought. Ask yourself a few strategic questions before you say “Yes” or “No” to a new task or activity,

  • Is it urgent or important?
  • Do you have time?
  • Can you delegate it to someone else?

And once you’ve found answers to these questions, rank and prioritize your to-do accordingly.

4. Use Your Time Carefully

Another reason why most of us fail to achieve our goals or self-improve is the excuse of not having enough time. While there’s no doubt that we all are busy, it’s always better to keep a tab of how and where the time is going. Consider using time tracking software. Just pick your favorite tool and see how much time you and your team have been (or are) spending on a particular task. And once you’ve got the time data, use it to do better in future tasks.

5. Ask For Help When Needed

Life is all about learning. And there is great value in how much you can learn from the people around you. So, if there is work-related stuff that seems too challenging for you, don’t hesitate to ask for help from others. Remember, even the most successful people needed a little help along the way. So, the next time you need an extra hand, don’t be afraid to ask.

6. Recharge Regularly

Burnout plagues your chances of success. If you’re feeling stressed and overworked, the best thing to do is to take a break and recharge your brain. Even Harvard research indicates that human brains need rest as much as human bodies. Consider leaving your work desk or going for a nice walk (5–10 minutes) in between working hours. Give it a try, you’ll definitely feel better.

In the year 2020, make it your agenda to be more productive, more successful, and more grateful. Take advantage of the habits we’ve discussed. Also, if you have a few habits or hacks of your own that have worked quite well for you and your goals (personal as well as professional), do let me know.
