Good morning!

One of the first things we say to each other. Ever wondered who came up with this positive idea to greet others?

Whosoever he was, did a great job! Now when I’m thinking about it, it surely is a great way to light someone else’s morning by just greeting them and saying Good morning.

After all, positive things set the foundation for a productive day. Just imagine if a simple customary greeting can do such wonders, what positive self-talk and powerful affirmations could do to your life?

Let’s take a moment to know what self-talking is and how practicing it daily could transform your life.

What is self-talk?

Self-talk is the practice of talking to oneself, either aloud or silently. It can be positive or negative depending on your thoughts and external influences.

Whatever be the case, self-talk is the most powerful form of communication because it either empowers you or defeats you.

This inner or verbal dialogue is very beneficial to your overall well-being. It is found that positive self-talk can add more years to your life, improve your physical and emotional health, and reduce daily stress. In short, what you say to yourself could determine a lot how you feel about yourself.

Here are 7 positive things you need to tell yourself every morning for a better life:

  1. Today is a good day

Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery. You’re just left with today. Why not start the day on a good note and notice everything good about this present day.

Shut down every thought that negates the moment and start off your day by using a positive phrase that goes something like “Wow! It’s a bright sunny day” or similar.

You will automatically start experiencing positive changes in your daily life. Always remember that every day is a fresh start and you need to constantly remind yourself to make the most of it.

2. I love who I am

It’s absolutely okay to admire others for their perfect looks, booming careers, and envious lifestyles but don’t forget to love your ordinary and beautiful self.

Give yourself a reminder that you are enough and doing very well for yourself. Accepting yourself with your strengths and flaws makes you a self-assured human being. When you think you are sufficient, things become easier by themselves.

Every morning, wake up and tell yourself that you are amazing and loved by many. It won’t just elevate your self-esteem but will also set the tone for better relationships with others as well.

3. I am grateful for this life

Waking up and providing fodder for negative thoughts is like sabotaging your own life. You become more content when you start practicing gratitude for everything you have in your life.

Being appreciative is a powerful process that shifts your energy and brings more of what you want in life. To quote Oprah Winfrey, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”

If you ever feel disheartened, remind yourself that you are healthy, have food to eat, a decent job, and a family that loves you to the moon and back, remember you have every right to be grateful for it.

4. I accept the things I cannot change

I used to spend a lot of time thinking about things I have no control over. Sometimes it would be my neighbor and sometimes a celebrity or a public figure. Thinking about why they said that particular thing and what would I say to her if I ever bump into her.

Out of the blue, it just hit me one day that why am I putting so much of thought over something I cannot change. Ever since then, I’ve made peace with things I have no control over. Instead, I focus on things that are under my control and put energies to accomplish them.

5. I don’t know everything

It’s okay to ask as you don’t know everything. No one does. The moment you start thinking that you know everything and can function on your own, you might limit what you can do with your life.

It is essential to keep learning and growing to evolve into a better human being. If you ever falter while trying new things, don’t be scared to ask for help.

There are so many skills yet to be learned and learning isn’t just confined to schools and books anymore. It can happen in an office, kitchen, road, and in fact anywhere. Don’t forget to remind yourself that you haven’t got all the answers yet and that’s okay.

6. Others don’t define me

The way people see you could often be the reason for your happiness and sorrow. But wait, should you let it affect you?

Absolutely not.

It’s a human tendency to make an opinion of yourself on the basis of how others perceive you. It is healthy for your self-esteem to remind yourself that others can’t and will never define you.

It’s in your hands to give people a remote control to your happiness or not. Whether you’re doing nothing at all or everything you can, people will always have things to say about you. Be your worst critic and greatest admirer and keep doing what you’re doing.

7. Life goes on

Life is full of ups and downs. Every day will never be the same and that’s okay. There will be days when things won’t happen as expected. You might lose your job, get dumped, fall sick, or lose someone.

It might be hard to get up from your bed and face the world during weak moments. But life goes on. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones and say them loud with full conviction. You might not observe immediate results but slowly and gradually, self-talk will start bringing miraculous results and improve your quality of life.
