Doing This One Thing Will Help You Become A Better Leader
When someone asks me why leadership is tough, I only have this two-word answer — It’s Not.
Leadership is not tough, it is your ability to fit into the leadership role that makes people think so. Being a leader for all these years has taught me one thing — if you are able to understand people, you can get them to deliver their best.
How Do You Understand People?
Be more curious about your team members, than they expect you to.
I’ve followed this mantra throughout my career. Why does this work?
Well, the reason is simple — when someone shows interest in our goals, career, passion, or anything relatable, we tend to develop a liking for that person.
Here’s how you can also achieve this as a leader:
- Show genuine curiosity
- Give undivided attention when talking to them
- Ask thorough, open-ended questions
- Proactively help them in achieving their goals or passion
Don’t Complicate Things
As the saying goes — birds of the same feather flock together. By showing genuine interest in other people’s behavior, you are in a way building that connection. When you as a leader are able to build that connection, people working with you will never hesitate to put that little extra effort. And, this little extra effort is what is required to transform good things into great!!!
