How To Instill A Growth Mindset In Your Team?

How do you identify a leader in the crowd? They are the ones who are constantly looking to solve the problem. That’s the kind of mindset they have.

In my life’s journey as an entrepreneur and a leader, I’ve observed one thing — everyone is a leader. For instance, making decisions for the good or the bad of your family, that’s leadership. Isn’t it?

It’s just that when it comes to work, not everyone can bring out their leadership skills.

There can be countless reasons for the same -

  • They are unable to identify their inherent leadership skills.
  • They don’t get a supportive environment, which can bring out the leader in them.
  • Or maybe, they are not put in that position where they feel obligated to bring out the leader in them.

However, I am not here to talk about these challenges. I am here to talk about solving them. And to talk about developing a growth mindset so that team members can become leaders. I’ve been practicing some simple tips with my team members, which I will share with you.

Here’s how I try to do it:

Encourage Openness

Nothing can motivate the employees to grow better than the words of encouragement from their leader. But how can that happen when there is a lack of communication between the two?

This is why in my book of leadership; communication is the number one factor that drives growth, success, and team bonding.

A leader must encourage open communication so that the team members can come, talk, or discuss their minds. Also, it allows you to convey what you have in store for their growth.

Provide opportunities

In order to encourage a growth mindset, you not only have to talk but also provide opportunities to match what you say.

These opportunities can be in learning new technology, lessons in leadership, growth in designation based on performance, and so on.

When it is visible that you are investing in your employee’s growth, they are bound to develop a mindset of exceeding expectations.

Care For Them

The most important thing you can do to inspire your team’s growth mindset is to show that you care for them. Care does not mean only monetary growth. It means providing an atmosphere where they feel comfortable and at ease. It also means ensuring that they are always keeping good mental health.

How can you expect them to focus on growth when their focus is on getting rid of stress? As a leader, you need to provide them the support they need to minimize stress and develop a mindset of growth.
