These 5 simple tips will help you keep your mental peace at workplace

Peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise. It means to be in the middle of those things and still be calm at your heart. How many of us can say it with confidence that they have mental peace at work? That they are calm even when there is chaos at workplace? Not many can.

So, what’s wrong here? What’s the impact of this on our productivity? Well, if studies are to believed, then the impact is a lot! And, what’s wrong here is our approach toward work. Seldom do we realize that in the race to earn more money and move faster, we forget about the thing we are losing — our mental peace! We give so much to our work that we forget about losing our peace of mind.

Want to regain that state of mental peace, even when project requirements, tasks and meetings are being bombarded? Here are some tips that can help -

Start accepting your mistakes

To err is human. It is an undeniable fact that we all make mistakes. But, seldom do we take accountability for those mistakes. More often than not, we try to weasel our ways out and play the blame game. That can be the biggest roadblock to a person’s mental peace at work.

At some point of time in your professional career, you have to be bold. You have to own accountability for mistakes you’ve made. Better to begin right now! After all, the guilt of catapulting your mistakes on someone else’s shoulder can be the worst thing happen to you.

Keep your mouth closed and let your eyes listen

Office gossip kills time, gets your mind wander and makes you think the things that you should not. Do not involve yourself in it. It is important to be part of group activities, team-meetings and more. But, it is even more important to stay away from the who’s saying what at workplace.

You cannot avoid gossips from happening between team-members. But, you can surely avoid being part of them. The best way to focus on getting things done, and not on things happening around you, then the best way to do that is by staying away from tittle-tattle in office!

Take some time out to meditate

To a mind that is still the whole world surrenders. How true is that! In the hustle and bustle of life, we seldom are able to spare some time to think about our self. Our mind wanders in a reckless manner on things that don’t even matter. Meditation, however, helps your mind to ward-off the things that deviate it from your work.

Calmness in your attitude can help you avoid responses like anger, frustration and more. And, that can help you devote complete focus on the tasks at hand rather than squandering it off on unnecessary things. You can begin by devoting just ten minutes of your morning time to practice meditation.

Have an attitude of gratitude

I’m a strong supporter of this practice. If you are grateful of what you have, you are more powerful than anyone else in the world. People nagging and complaining about their problems forget about the pleasures they have!

As they say “satisfaction is not always the fulfillment of what you want; it is the realization of how blessed you are for what you have.” Be thankful for what you have. Don’t just get frustrated because someone else in your team got promoted. Analyze your weakness. And, the areas where that person scored better than you to get the promotion. Work even harder and success will kiss your feet!

Hope for the best, but stay prepared for the worst

Sincere efforts never go waste. If you’ve put your best effort, then don’t worry about the results. Yes, you are trying your best to make things work in the task. But, it may go wrong. So, what are you going to do if such circumstance arise? Do you have a B-plan?

Preparing for the worst keeps your mind at peace, as you know how are you going to react if things go south. Getting caught on the wrong foot, can bring a downfall from where you might not even be able to pick yourself up. And, I’m sure you would not want that to happen. So always hope for the best, but be prepared for the worst!

These were some of the things I practice at work to keep my mind calm and focused. I’m sure they can be of great help to anyone. If you feel at distress or disturbed at work, then you can begin implementing these steps, one at a time. And, we can see how things move from there!
